owner/project manager- blk moor digital solutions
2022 - present
i launched my first business in 2019, utilising shopify as well as receiving mentorship from jeuneora co-founder meg falconer. i had explored web design and development as a hobby for around 10 years, creating apps and games for fun on the side, but i had only scratched the surface of what was possible online. i landed a gig at shopify in 2021, starting as a support advisor and working my way to become team leader for 'plus support' (large merchants) over the next couple years.
working at shopify as a team leader helped me discover my passion for e-commerce and business working in the industry. hearing merchants' stories every day, the battles they fight to launch and grow their business, sparked something in me. i had to be a part of that creative and ever-evolving world. whether it's giving it a go myself or helping people find their way through it, i knew web design and ecommerce was where i belonged.
and so in 2022, blk moor digital solutions was born.
after spending some time creating websites on the side for friends & family, i decided to launch my own agency to help people get started in the digital world. i was pretty good at it, so why not?
my first project was a website for a friend's theatre company based out of wellington, 'squash co'. i worked with the team to create a site with merchandise, gigs, info & team bios over a week.
then, a coffee brand from christchurch, 'vice espresso', was in need of a refresh. i redesigned everything from the ground up, and the difference was night & day. that was the first time i had ever sent out an invoice for my work. a big milestone for me, seeing for the first time that doing what i love might actually be able to pay the bills!
after helping a friend create his music portfolio to take his business online for the first time, i decided that e-commerce and web design were where my passions lie and i was wasting my time doing anything else.
so - why do i do this? because i love it! seeing someone earn their spot on the digital market and thrive online drives me to keep going - and i'd love to do the same for you. let's get started!
